This is a real joy, an honour, and a tremendous responsibility to preside over the Hispanic Arts Society. An organization that for 35 years has impacted Canada’s – and the world’s – Hispanic artists.
I am very excited to be part of an exceptional team at the Society that includes our dedicated board, executive team, staff, and volunteers.
Since the Society’s inception in 1987, the executive board has worked towards the presentation of major productions such as the Hispanic festival “EXPO LATINO”, Calgary’s Hottest Outdoor Festival, and Western Canada’s Largest Latin Festival.
Due to the pandemic, we decided to cancel the last two years’ festival and explore the live stream option which was a success.
This year marks the 26th year of the Festival. In 2022 and in our 26th edition we are returning to the Prince’s Island Park to showcase our amazing Hispanic American culture.
Expo Latino is a family-friendly outdoor event, offering activities for all ages! Kids activities feature a lineup of arts and crafts and dance workshops, storytelling, and more.
This event is possible thanks to our sponsors and collaborators: the City of Calgary, Calgary Arts Development, Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and the Government of Alberta. We are grateful to have such support.
I hope you will come and enjoy the 26th Expo Latino Festival celebration!
The Society is based out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We incorporated on June 26, 1987 as a non profit society and since then we have and continue to stage with tremendous success. Our primary Mandate and Objectives are:
Our basic foundation values, the values upon which all we do is based:
