For its 23rd edition, the Expo Latino Festival will unite with the International Salsa Festival to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Salsa music genre
The Expo Latino Festival and Tourism Calgary will award the International Salsa star, Oscar D’ León, the 2019 WHITE HAT RECOGNITION.
Others that will be given recognitions are producers Luis Francisco Mendoza and Henry Salazar Mouré, for their contribution to the Salsa Genre.

(Calgary, AB, Canada – July 1, 2019) – From August 16-18, Calgary will celebrate at Prince’s Island Park, the 23rd edition of Expo Latino, Western Canada’s Largest Latin Festival.
Mariela Parra, president of Hispanic Arts Society (Producer of Expo Latino) says: “The Expo Latino Festival, in collaboration with the International Salsa Festival of Miami and the Festival Internacional de la Salsa of México, celebrates the 55th anniversary of the Salsa genre in what will probably be the biggest Salsa event in Canada. Everyone is invited to Expo Latino to be part of the largest dance crowd and break a new record.”
This tribute to Salsa includes some of the key singers in the genre such as Ismael Miranda, who is one of the most representative Salsa singers, and Willie Panamá, who is one of the top singers in Panama. Los Adolescentes will also be playing with their incredible band, which is known for its fresh sound and infectious rhythms. The Expo Latino Festival and Tourism Calgary will also award the 2019 White Hat Recognition to a special guest, “El Sonero del Mundo”, Oscar D’ Leon for his contribution to Salsa music.
This will also be a grand opportunity to celebrate Ismael Miranda’s 50-year-long musical career, Los Adolescentes for their 25 years, and Willie Panama for his contribution to Salsa in Panama and for being a uniting force within the genre. Producer Luis Francisco Mendoza will also be recognized for being part of the history of salsa. Similarly, producer Henry Salazar Mouré will be recognized for his constant passion and non stop support within the genre.
The MCs for the festival will be Alberto Mauco (Miami), Magaly Cuvillier (Montreal), Cesar Altamirano (Calgary), and Cristina Rosati (Calgary). There will be three consecutive days of Hispanic musical and cultural presentations with important local artists such as Oliver Miguel & The Revolución. There will be also Latin dance academies, folkloric groups, cultural stands, souvenirs, contests, and Latin food.
Also, as part of the activities of Expo Latino, there will be an exhibition of works of Latin American visual artists from August 15 to 18 at the Expo Latino headquarters, McHugh House, 1515 Center Street S, Calgary, AB T2G 2E6.
Expo Latino will offer, for the third consecutive year, free entrance to the festival on August 17 and 18 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. FREE tickets are valid to enter the park ONLY for this period of time and can be downloaded from www.expolatino.com > BUY TICKETS.
